Comfortably Numb

People are often understandably concerned with discomfort during dental treatments. Much of this revolves around the "freezing". Discomfort in many cases is due to the anesthetic fluid being flooded into an area of tissue that has little capacity to take it up. When the tissues are distended during freezing it can be uncomfortable at the time, and also may take a few days to feel better afterward.

It is often difficult for a dentist to feel the resistance of the tissues at the site of freezing when using a traditional syringe. No matter how slowly the injection is done by hand there is often some discomfort.

At Bayley Dental we've invested in an compuerized system which is capable of measuring the back pressure at the injection site and adjusting the flow rate accordingly. This system, called an STA, or "The Wand" allows for a more comfortable experience both during and after the procedure. If you have any questions about this, or have any other questions please contact us.
